Men will be always
be required to take care of the fairer sex; women. Even despite the fact that
the ladies may drive bigger cars, earn bigger cash, and dress in shinier suits,
they are desperate for a Charming who will be courageous for their sake. In
fairy tales, the princess in the tower is swoon because of the prince who slays
the dragon, beats the foes and restores her to her father’s Kingdom. She is so
swoon that she marries him the next page. One may say that those are just fairy
tales and shouldn’t be given second thought but be that as it may, fairy tales
have their drawing from a deep human need or desire. And there’s a strong
feminine desire demonstrated in Cinderella and Snow White; a man who leads.
A man who leads hooks
his motivation on permanent foundations and not on temporary foundations. A
woman with godly character is a permanent foundation to build a marriage and a
future. A marriage built on curves and hips will tumble the day the hips
crumble. The motivation has to stand. The greatest unchanging motivation is
Christ. On this foundation will a man of courage never falter. If a lady
perceives that her man is leading and his motivation is pure, one will be
surprised at the lengths she will follow him. Till death do us part is one
length that not every lady today reaches. Your motivation to lead must not die
or else your followership will.
A man who leads
realizes that his function is more important than his position. Jerry White,
former president of The Navigators, in his book, Dangers Men Face, states that every position in life will
disappear. None is permanent. Realize that there will always be people better
than you and with more money than you. But are you the man who walks home and
the kids run to their bedrooms or are you the one who the kids run to meet in
the driveway? Will you be the man that the wife sighs when you arrive or the
one who plants a big kiss on your lips when you come back home? When you
embrace your function, the people around you love you and want you to be their leader.
Your lady will even be proud to be called by your name, Mrs. Wamboye, Mrs. Juma
etc. If not yet there, she ‘s probably dreaming about it. But when you embrace
your position, you become the villain of the story. Sure you don’t own six
ranches in the Rift but guess what, your woman feels like the richest lady in
the world. Sure you may not have the latest BMW model but to your kids, you are
their superman. Position will help eventually buy better gifts and drive nicer
cars but compared to your function as a man, it means nothing. Love your lady,
spend time with her, make her laugh, spend money on her and don’t make her
number one in your life. Make her the only one. Lead and she will follow.
Men that lead have
influence. Once again the deceitfulness of money tells us that the man with the
most toys wins. But what profits it a man to gain all the toys in the world and
lose his very soul? A man with influence can do so without wielding a dollar
bill or flashing a shoe from Italy. Influence is not incitement. Anyone can unite
people against a problem but few can unite people on a solution. The latter is
influence. Your influence is possible because of your character. Strong
character begets strong influence. Weak character begets weak influence. Your
character many a times is centred on three things. One, how you treat people
you believe you can get nothing out of. Two, how generously and responsibly you
handle your money. Three, how you exercise your moral discipline. To expand the
three would require a whole new blog. Take time and review the three in your
life. In your leading, do you influence positively?
A man who leads has
his identity and confidence on everlasting principles. Ask a man who he is and
he will tell you what he does. What you do is a terrible place to place your
identity and confidence. Let me explain why. If your identity and confidence in
life is in playing basketball and you are a world-star basketball player, what
happens the day you are involved in a gross accident and your hands are
amputated? Will you cease being a man because what you do has been taken away?
Many would. Why? Because their identity and confidence is on fading stuff. What
if your lady is by you and is motivated to be by your side because of that
identity and confidence. Will she leave when it crumbles? I put it boldly that
the only unfading foundation a man can place his hope in is Christ Jesus. If
you have not, I can assure you that you are missing out on a fulfilment that
words fall short to describe. Christ led and commissioned men to be parallel to
who he is to the church. Be a hero today and take the lead.
